First Year Trainee
Valerie was introduced to dance when she was 11 years old where she started dancing at Gulf Coast Dancenter in Clearwater, Florida. She began by taking one ballet class a week for a few years before joining Gulf Coast Dance Theater’s pre-professional ballet company. During this time she was also taking part in many cross country and track events, earning many awards in Pinellas county.
At the age of fourteen, she decided to pursue dance instead of running and began to dance more frequently at her home studio. Valerie was given the title of “soloist” at Gulf Coast Dance Theater and performed lead rolls in ballets such as Alice, the Red Queen, and the White Rabbit in the ballet Alice in Wonderlandand Cinderella and the Fairy Godmother in the ballet Cinderella.
Although she had not attended any other ballet school until taking part in UBT’s spring and summer intensives, she was accepted into intensives at Colorado Ballet, Sarasota Ballet, Cincinnati Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater, Milwaukee Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, and Atlanta Ballet.
