
Koren LaPlant, 18, Trainee
Koren joined United Ballet Theatre at age 18 as a Trainee A, and is enjoying her second year there. Originally from Alpharetta, Georgia, Koren began her dance training at the age of four, learning all genres of dance including ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, hip hop, and musical theatre. She was also an avid gymnast, earning six state champion titles. At the age of 11, Koren needed to make a decision between pursuing a dance career or an Olympic gymnastics career. She chose dance, and hasn’t looked back since!
She began her training under the direction of Joan Kall Stewart in Cumming, GA, then joined the Georgia Ballet. She was then invited to a ballet conservatory program under the direction of Orlando Molina, and went on to Roswell Ballet Theatre, where she received 30 dance scholarship and college offers during her 11th and 12th grade years through Regional Dance America. Koren has also competed at the finals in YAGP in Atlanta, as well as attended various summer ballet intensive programs such as ABT in New York City, SAB and ABT in California, Bolshoi Ballet in New York City and in Connecticut. Some of Koren’s favorite roles performed have been Clara, Tinkerbell, Le Corsaire Pas de Trois, Snow Queen, Queen of Dryads, and Sugar Plum Fairy.
